The History of ‘DJ Self Born’
DJ Self Born is globally known as a ground-breaking DJ and music producer, who worked with Kanye West after being recruited by legendary Chicago group and his old friends, ‘Abstract Mindstate’ for the breakthrough legendary album “Dreams Still Inspire”.
‘Kanye West‘ produced all of the tracks on the album while DJ SELF BORN provided all of the scratches. At the moment ‘Abstract Mindstate‘ and DJ SELF BORN are organically touring the U.S.A showcasing the latest production work done exclusively by Kanye West.

DJ SELF BORN is not only a DJ, but an efficient and prolific multi-tasker, who’s talent extends far beyond DJing. DJ Self Born is also a music producer and the owner of the legendary Love/Hate DJ Bar formerly on South Beach, that is now a travelling pop-up event.
DJ Self Born was born and raised on Chicago’s Southside and has been described as a ‘one man band’ who works in all arenas, from Radio, nightclubs and corporate events to private events for global stars like Vanessa Bell Calloway, Gabrielle Union, actors Tony Rock, Donnell Rawlings as well as sport figures Dwayne Wade and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp.
DJ SELF BORN is currently a resident of Miami and has become a staple throughout the Miami scene as well as spending some time as an instructor for Jam Master J’s “DJ Scratch Academy.” In 2007 after 10 minutes of listening, Hip Hop legend Special Ed quickly recruited him as his tour DJ. Whether actor, sports figure, comedian or news anchor, DJ SELF BORN seems to be their DJ of choice. He spins an array of music ranging from Frank Sinatra to Jay-Z, showcasing a level of versatility that is virtually unheard of.
DJ SELF BORN has shared the same stage as music legends like 50 Cent & G-Unit, Jay-Z & Rocafella and Wu Tang Clan, when he toured coast to coast with Raekwon the Chef acting as Tour DJ/Host.
DJ SELF BORN has also toured across the USA with GZA of Wu Tang Clan, Cannibal Ox & J-Live. He has become a touring DJ legend and is very well known as a DJ/host that controls the crowd with his finger on the pulse of new music and classic tracks.
