As we emerge from a world that has been crushed by a global pandemic, the synergy of art and music are more essential than ever. It is for this reason that we find the Berlin-based producer Luca Draccar’s new EP Sugar to be deserving of a sonic hero’s welcome. In many ways, Sugar demonstrates that trance music can be conceptual.
Draccar’s new project holds a fair amount of musical intensity. Beginning with the tracks Love Is Killing You and She Is Gone, an inner dimension unfolds for the listener that is filled with nostalgia and a sense of familiarity.
The musical production on Sugar is very cinematic. Ending with Come Closer, Sugar’s trinity of tracks constitute a compelling theme of love’s twists and turns. We find in Come Closer a melodic kiss that is fragrant with audible layers, including several beat variations and a translucent bass.
Sugar is as sweet as its title and with veteran producer Luca Draccar at the helm we can rest assure that the future of music with brewing a golden moment with this one.
