Zayn Malik is teaming up with Versus Versace on capsule collection of men’s and women’s clothes.

The former One Direction hunk has already caught the eye of designer Donatella Versace, who previously praised his willingness to take risks with his style, with Zayn dubbing her “so cool” in return. They’re now taking their admiration for one another to the next level, as the singer will be working with the fashionista on a range titled Zayn X Versus, which will debut next spring (17).

In addition, Zayn will also become the face of Versus’ campaigns.

“Versus is the rock and roll soul of the Versace family and has always been associated with music,” Donatella told the New York Times. “Everyone from the Foo Fighters to Lenny Kravitz has played at the shows, and it is all about rebellion. For me, Zayn was the perfect fit.”

Zayn shared his excitement too, noting there’s no other brand he’d rather design for than Versus, as it represents him and the people of his generation.

“I like to learn about things I’m interested in and I enjoy being around creative people so I think it will be cool,” he added. “The bonus is that I get to collaborate with Donatella, whom I love and admire. I know we’ll create something amazing.”

Donatella admitted she wasn’t a fan of pop band One Direction, which Zayn left in March 2015, but she’s got to know Zayn better since he began model Gigi Hadid, who the designer works with regularly. She also shared her thoughts on their romance, noting the ruggedly handsome star impresses her with his etiquette.

“He was so mature, so thoughtful, treated her like such a gentleman,” she gushed. “They are very nice young people, a lovely couple, in fact. And then he told me how much he loved fashion. It was then I knew he was the right face for what I had in mind.

“Many celebrities do clothing lines that just aren’t relevant. This one? It will be. He’s smart to do it with me.”

Donatella, who created Versus in 1993, hopes to attract a new audience with Zayn’s designs, pointing out that the fashion house is a lot louder and “rebellious” than Versace.
