Moses Ngwenya also known as “Amow” is a Hip Hop artist from Soweto who is able to fuse different sounds like Funk, Rnb, into his music. His Music is influenced by a variety of sounds from old school to new school giving birth to his versatility.
The brand new single From The Jump is inspired by a relationship that you know is doomed to fail, but no matter what you still decide to take a chance on it – From The Jump.
Having acquired a love of hip hop and rhyme from a young age, when Amow was in grade 7 (2008) he bought a songbook where he used to write lyrics from his favourite artists like Tupac to perform in rap sessions. He was teased most of the time for not performing his own lyrics and so he decided to show the world what he was made of – he wrote a song and performed it live and the lyrics went –
“This is my song and I already feel like I am ill with this, lets see if yol rappers can handle a 12 year old lyricist”
He stormed the session after the first verse, and that’s when he decided to write more songs and talk about his past and current experiences.
In year (2011) Amow increased his popularity in high school by taking part in all rap sessions, and then later a fellow rapper named “Nesh” realized he’s potential and invited Amow into the studio
to record a song titled “The day I blow up.”
The song gained so much popularity at Emndeni Secondary School that Amow became the school superstar. He later co-founded a record label “Shack Empire” with his childhood friends Sleek B, M.k, rZr, Lwaneezy, Prolly, Raeez, Roy and his brother GDIN who later left the label. Amow is also in the process of starting his own
record label “Next Legend Group”.
“From The Jump” – the brand new single hits all radio stations this week – and was inspired by a friend.
“I was approached by a high school friend Bayanda to write a song for him about a girl he was dating. The song received so much love from crowds that Amow performed it in 2018, at an event called the “Look What I Became Tour”
Amow will be releasing his 5 track EP titled “96.01.12” on the 12th of March; the title of the EP is his birth date.
